‘Alice’ rights fall to October Films

Prod'n company inks yet another Cannes pact

CANNES — In seemingly its umpteenth deal of the festival, the ever-busy October Films has acquired North American rights to Andre Techine’s drama “Alice and Martin,” starring Juliette Binoche. from Le Studio Canal Plus.

Pic, produced by French vet Alain Sarde, is the story of a young man looking forward to a wonderful life with his pregnant lover, only to be increasingly haunted by his past.

“Alice” is currently in post-production. The film co-stars Spanish actress Carmen Maura, Mathieu Amalric, Jean-Pierre Lorit and Marthe Villalonga.

Avy Eschenasy, senior veepee of business affairs, repped October. John Kochman, director of international sales, and Daniel Marquet, head of international distribution, negotiated for Le Studio.
