Fox Lorber Associates acquires homevid rights; Spano to weather 'Storm'

Fox Lorber Associates has acquired homevideo rights to several new titles, it was announced by Krysanne Katsoolis, senior VP of acquisitions.

Overseas Film Group’s “johns,” “Jerusalem,” “Different for Girls,” “Marcello Mastroianni: I Remember, Yes, I Remember,” from Anna Maria Tato, and the Swedish “The Other Side of Sundown” have all been picked up by Fox Lorber Home Video for the U.S. Also acquired were two Jackie Chan docus from Media Asia, “My Story” and “My Stunts,” pegged for Fox Lorber’s WinStar Home Entertainment label.

U.S. television and homevideo rights for Juzo Itami’s “Tampopo” and “The Funeral” have also been picked up, as well as five Agnes Varda titles and Louis Malle’s “My Dinner With Andre” for worldwide distribution.

Actor Vincent Spano has signed on to direct and star in the special effects-driven “Storm,” from indie production and distribution outfit UFO. With only shorts under his belt, Spano will make his feature directing debut with this high-tech thriller about a covert military mission dubbed “Operation Storm.”

Olandt, Jeff Beach and Phillip Roth will produce from a script by Patrick Phillips. Beach will also oversee the international sales.
