Matt Bierman has been named senior vice president of production at Village Roadshow Pictures, the Oz-based company that recently commenced a co-financing and co-production deal with Warner Bros.
Bierman, whose previous post was director of production at Walt Disney Pictures, will oversee Village Roadshow’s feature slate.
Current projects under the Warner Bros. deal include “Matrix,” a sci-fi thriller produced by Joel Silver and starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, as well as director Renny Harlin’s underwater action adventure “Deep Blue Sea.”
Village Roadshow and Warners pacted a five-year production and distribution partnership that calls for the companies to collaborate on four to six pics a year, aiming for a total of approximately 20 features during the life of the deal.
At Disney, Bierman was involved in the development and production of projects such as “Jungle to Jungle,” “Mr. Magoo,” “My Favorite Martian” and “Rocket Man.”
Bierman has also worked as a story editor for producer Jon Peters.
Village Roadshow Pictures is a subsidiary of Village Roadshow Ltd., which has distributed WB films in Australia and New Zealand for a quarter of a century. WB and Village Roadshow are also partners in Australian theme parks and theater exhibition ventures in Australia, the U.K., Germany, Italy and Taiwan.
