Journalist Barbara Walters, performer Diahann Carroll and USA Network founder Kay Koplovitz will be given Lucy Awards at a Women in Film luncheon on Sept. 12.
WIF’s fifth annual Lucy Awards show, which honors women in television and whose title was inspired by the late Lucille Ball, will include a lifetime service award for Bonny Dore. She is a former president of WIF and exec producer of miniseries like “Sins” and “Glory! Glory!” and the TV movies “Reason for Living: The Jill Ireland Story” and “The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior.”
Co-chairs for the Lucy event — not to be confused with WIF’s Crystal Awards, which focus on women in motion pictures — are Loreen Arbus and Deborah Miller, both WIF board members.
Past Lucy Award winners include Carol Burnett, Marlo Thomas, Angela Lansbury, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, Garry Marshall, Imogene Coca, Fred Silverman and Brianne Murphy.
WIF was founded in Los Angeles in 1973 by Tichi Wilkerson Kassel with the aim of fostering the professional growth of women in the entertainment industry.
