Violinists Isaac Stern and Itzhak Perlman will play themselves in “50 Violins,” which Wes Craven is currently directing for Miramax Films in Gotham.
Marianne Maddalena is producing the biopic about schoolteacher Roberta Guaspari, who taught violin to inner-city children.
Meryl Streep stars as Guaspari in the pic, which Pamela Gray adapted from Miramax’s Oscar-nominated documentary “Small Wonders.”
Also in the “Violins” cast are Angela Bassett, Aidan Quinn, Cloris Leachman, Jane Leeves, Kieran Culkin, Jay O. Sanders and singer Gloria Estefan in her first feature film role.
