Former writing partners David Simon and Robert Kosberg have gone back in time to set up the time-travel romance pitch “In Time” at Fox-based Davis Entertainment.
Davis made a low-six-figure preemptory bid out of its discretionary fund for the pitch, which Simon — a former “Mad About You” writer-producer — is writing. Kosberg will produce along with John Davis. Merv Griffin will exec produce.
Senior VP Anya Kochoff brought the project into Davis.
Using a time-travel device, “In Time” is a romance that spans two periods: 1912 and present day.
The project is something of a journey back in time for Simon and Kosberg, who worked together as a writing team in the 1980s, but went their separate ways a decade ago.
Simon has worked primarily in TV, most recently writing “Still Crazy,” a sitcom pilot for Castle Rock. He was repped in the deal by agent Scott Schwartz, Vision Arts Management, managed by Irene Drayer and Suzanne de Passe.
Writer-producer Kosberg, who is based at Merv Griffin Prods., has focused on features. He’s made something of a specialty of time-travel stories, exec producing Universal’s Bruce Willis starrer “12 Monkeys” and Bo Zenga’s “Time Jumpers,” now in development at DreamWorks.
