HOLLYWOOD — Meredith Salenger and Mariska Hargitay (“ER”) have signed to take a swim in “Lake Placid,” which stars Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda and Oliver Platt.
Pic, written by “Ally McBeal” creator David E. Kelley and helmed by Steve Miner (“Halloween: H2O”), is about a New York paleontologist (Fonda) who comes to a small town in Maine to investigate a mysterious crocodile. Salenger plays the local deputy who helps Fonda adjust to her new environment, while Hargitay is a colleague of hers in New York.
The action adventure pic is being produced by Phoenix Pictures, while distribution arrangements have already been reached with Fox (domestic and U.K.), Canal Plus (Europe) and Pioneer (Japan). Lensing began July 24.
Salenger’s deal was negotiated by Suzanne Bennett and Todd Eisner of Writers & Artists and manager Erik Kritzer. Hargitay is repped by UTA and managed by Irwin More.
