Thesp Michael Rooker has inked for a small role in Phillip Noyce’s next picture, “The Bone Collector,” which begins shooting Sept. 21 in Montreal.
Universal Pictures is financing and distributing the crime thriller, which is based on the novel by Jeffrey Deaver.
In the film, Denzel Washington stars as a quadriplegic police officer who teams with a female detective (Angelina Jolie) to track down a serial killer. Queen Latifah and Ed O’Neill co-star in the film. Rooker plays Howard Cheney, head of crime services and Jolie’s superior officer.
Bregman Prods.’ Martin Bregman and Michael Bregman, Dan Jinks and Louis A. Stroller are producing the pic, written by Christopher Crowe, Jeremy Iacone and Deaver.
Rooker has wrapped roles in two indie pics this year: “Brown’s Requiem,” based on the novel by James Ellroy, and “Table for One,” co-starring Rebecca De Mornay. His other credits include “The Replacement Killers,” “Rosewood,” “Bastard Out of Carolina,” “Tombstone” and “Cliffhanger.” Manager Erik Kritzer and Gersh Agency’s Bob Gersh and Lorrie Bartlett negotiated for Rooker.
