'Summer' star, Cook join Miramax's 'That'

Rising young stars Freddy Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook will topline the teen romantic comedy “She’s All That” which Miramax is readying for a mid-August shoot.

The Rob Iscove-helmed pic is produced by Peter Abrams and Robert Levy of Tapestry Films and Richard Gladstein.

Prinze will play a teen stud who bets a pal he can turn the highschool’s geekiest female student (Cook) into the next prom queen — and then falls in love with her.

“She’s All That” is penned by Lee Fleming from on an idea by Tapestry veep Jennifer Gibgot.

Miramax development VP Jill Messick and production VP Jeremy Kramer will oversee the project.

Cook has had roles in several Miramax releases including last year’s “The House of Yes” in which she played the Young Jackie-O (Parker Posey played the adult version); and the upcoming “Strike,” with Gaby Hoffman and Kirsten Dunst.

She will also star in the indie pic “The Bumblebee Flies Anyway” with Elijah Wood.

Prinze made his feature debut in “To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday,” and then went on to roles in “The House of Yes” and the horror hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” He’ll next be seen in that pic’s upcoming sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.” He also stars in the upcoming Fox actioner “Wing Commander.”

Prinze was repped by his agents at CAA and manager Ric Beddingfield. Cook’s deal was negotiated by UTA and Westgate Management.
