NEW YORK — Michelle Pfeiffer is set to star alongside Harrison Ford in “What Lies Beneath,” a supernatural thriller to be directed by Robert Zemeckis from a script by Clark Gregg for DreamWorks.

The pairing is a first for Pfeiffer and Ford, and marks the first time the actress has worked with Zemeckis. The project, which has been shrouded in secrecy, is described as a ghost story.

“What Lies Beneath” was developed by Zemeckis and his partner, Jack Rapke, under their Image Movers banner for DreamWorks, which is currently negotiating with Fox to co-venture on the film.

Pfeiffer, last seen starring in “A Thousand Acres,” recently completed roles in the Ulu Grossbard-directed “The Deep End of the Ocean” for Columbia and Mandalay, and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for Fox Searchlight.

She begins work in December co-starring with Bruce Willis for director Rob Reiner in Castle Rock’s “The Story of Us.”

Pfeiffer is repped by ICM’s Ed Limato.
