‘Passion’ may find Moore

Actress first in line for sought-after role

Demi Moore appears to be the front-runner for one of Hollywood’s most sought-after female roles: the lead in Lakeshore and Paramount’s drama “Passion in Mind.”

Top actresses including Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan and Winona Ryder also had expressed interest in the pic, which is based on a decade-old script by Ron Bass. “Passion” was at one time developed as a vehicle for Michelle Pfeiffer.

Lakeshore execs did not return phone calls, but sources said the company is negotiating with Moore to play the role of a woman whose life appears to alternate between two parallel and irreconcilable existences.

In one, she is a widowed American mother of two living in the South of France; in the other, she’s a single successful Gotham book editor. “Passion” follows her quest to discover which life is real and which is a dream.

“Ma Vie en Rose” helmer Alain Berliner is directing the project, which Lakeshore acquired about two years ago.

Moore’s recent credits include “G.I. Jane,” “Striptease” and the HBO pic “If These Walls Could Talk.” She’s repped by CAA.
