Miramax buys ‘Talos’ rights

Dimension to distrib Mulcahy-helmed horror pic in N. America

NEW YORK — Miramax Films’ genre arm Dimension Films has acquired North American distribution rights to “Talos the Mummy,” which was helmed by “Highlander” director Russell Mulcahy.

Pic tells the story of an evil spirit that is unleashed on the unsuspecting inhabitants of London.

“Talos” stars Jason Scott Lee, Louise Lombard, Sean Pertwee, Lysette Anthony, Michael Lerner, Jack Davenport, Honor Blackman with Christopher Lee and Shelley Duvall.

Esposito, Mulcahy wrote

Based on a story by Keith Williams and Mulcahy, the screenplay was written by John Esposito and Mulcahy.

Filmed on location in Luxembourg, “Talos” was produced by Silvio Muraglia and Daniel Sladek. Tom Reeve and Romain Schroeder were exec producers.

The Muraglia/Sladek Prods. presentation was produced in association with 7th Voyage, Imperial Entertainment Group and KNB EFX Group Inc. Jeffrey White was also a producer and Gabriel Beristain was d.p.

On behalf of Dimension, the deal was negotiated by veepee for acquisitions Michael Cole and VP for business and legal affairs Cary Meadow.
