'Drew' thesp to co-star in Acad winner's debut

HOLLYWOOD — Christa Miller, best known for her role as Kate on ABC’s “The Drew Carey Show,” has landed the female lead in the indie feature “Goat on Fire and Smiling Fish.”

Jordan scripted “Goat” along with Derick Martini, who will also produce the film. It tells the story of a young independent-minded mother (Miller) who moves with her daughter from Wyoming to L.A. in order to support the 10-year-old’s dream of becoming an actress.

Martini also stars along with his brother, Steven Martini.

Jordan, who took student Oscars for his “Enter the Cypha” and “A Ride Inside the Old Guard,” also received a Martin Scorsese Fellowship and apprenticed with the acclaimed director on “Kundun.”

Prior to “Goat,” Miller will shoot the independent feature “The Operator.” She was repped by Bob Gersh of the Gersh Agency and her manager Bob McGowan.
