Nicole Jefferson is close to a deal to direct Fox 2000’s “Ghetto Fabulous” for producers Lynda Obst and Howard Rosenman.
The music-driven drama, scripted by supermodel Veronica Webb, focuses on the trials and tribulations of a young African American women trying to make it as R&B singer in New York.
Attached to ‘Party’
The 27-year-old Jefferson is also attached to direct “Party Over Here” for MTV Films. That project is based on a short film she directed as a grad student at UCLA, where she received the Spotlight Film Award in both 1993 and 1994. In 1995, she took home the Directors Guild of America Student Film Award.
Jefferson also directed the short “Left Eye’s No Hero of Mine” for “HBO’s Def Comedy Jam” series, and has written for magazines including Vibe, Source and Rap Pages.
Neither the producers nor Fox execs could be reached for comment.
Jefferson was repped in the deal by agents Larry Kennar and Stephen Gates at Writers & Artists, attorneys Brad Small and Mark Halloran, and manager Wendy Niad.
