Lee, Kilik to produce pic for Touchstone

NEW YORK — “Spin City’s” Jennifer Esposito is set to star with John Leguizamo and Adrien Brody in Spike Lee’s “Summer of Sam,” set against the backdrop of the Son of Sam serial murders that occurred in New York during the mid-1970s.

Lee is producing “Summer of Sam” with Jon Kilik for Walt Disney’s Touchstone Pictures. Lee wrote the script along with Victor Colicchio and Michael Imperioli.

Esposito, who plays a wisecracking secretary on “Spin City,” is also known for her recurring role as a Mafia princess on “New York Undercover.”

She recently completed filming Danny Cannon’s “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” for Columbia Pictures, and will be seen in Tony Gerber’s forthcoming indie film “Side Streets,” which was executive produced by Ismail Merchant.

Esposito’s film credits include Ed Burns’ “No Looking Back,” a Gramercy Pictures release, and Tony Vitale’s “Kiss Me Guido.”

Esposito is repped by Larry Taube at the Gersh Agency and managed by Tina Thor.
