Summit Entertainment and Fresh Produce Co. are setting up the indie feature “Kill the Man” under legit directors Tom Booker and Jon Kean for a July shoot in Los Angeles.
Pic was described as a David-and-Goliath comedy about two struggling businessmen with a photocopying company schem-ing to undermine a competing corporate chain.
Booker and Kean also penned the script. Both are founders of the Theatre a Go-Go Co., which has spawned such fringe legit hits as “Patty, Patty, Bang Bang!” and “Valley of the Dolls.” The pic will mark their first feature film.
Fresh Produce’s Marshall Persinger will produce. Her partner, Joyce Schweickert, will exec produce.
The company just produced “Still Breathing” with Brendan Fraser and Joanna Going for October Films.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with Fresh Produce on this picture,” said Summit prexy and CEO Patrick Wachsberger. “Everybody’s looking for this kind of picture, the youth-oriented film that crosses over into the mainstream, the comedy that is actually original and laugh-out-loud funny.”
Pic is currently casting.
