Hank Azaria, last trampled in “Godzilla,” is in final talks to play the Blue Raja in “The Mystery Men” for Universal Pictures.
Paul Reubens (also known as Pee-wee Herman) and Claire Forlani are also in discussions for the pic about struggling superheroes forced into a final confrontation with archrival Casanova Frankenstein.
Pic is helmed by Kinka Usher and produced by Lawrence Gordon, Mike Richardson and Lloyd Levin.
Azaria recently wrapped production on “The Cradle Will Rock,” opposite Susan Sarandon, John Cusack and Vanessa Redgrave.
He will next be seen in “Mystery, Alaska,” the David E. Kelley-scripted comedy. Azaria’s other credits include “The Birdcage,” with Robin Williams.
Azaria also was just selected to receive an Emmy for his voiceover work on “The Simpsons,” for which he does the characters Apu, Chief Wiggam, Moe and Dr. Nick Riviera.
Endeavor is brokering the deal for Azaria. Nancy Sanders of Sanders Management and attorney David Weber also represent him.
