Rosanna Arquette, last spotted in “Hope Floats,” has inked to topline the first indie pic from Gotham performance artist Karen Finley, “Creating Kali.”
Arquette will star with Kamala Lopez, who co-wrote the feature with Finley. Arquette and Lopez will play two women — an actress and a sadomasochist — who have a number of bizarre run-ins in the Hollywood underground scene.
Finley is helming, and Lopez is producing through her Heroica Films. They are aiming for an October start in Los Angeles.
Arquette has co-starred in such pics as “Buffalo 66,” “Crash,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Desperately Seeking Susan” and “After Hours.” She recently set up her own project to produce and star in, “Don’t Shoot ‘Til We Get to Flagstaff” (Daily Variety, Aug. 4).
Lopez has appeared in such pics as “The Burning Season,” “Erotique,” “Lightning Jack” and “Deep Cover.” She also has written a number of screenplays, including “Mr. Hawaii” for Mandalay Entertainment and “Blue Movie.”
Arquette is repped by managers Mark Teitelbaum, Alan David and Alan Somers. Lopez is handled for her thesp roles by Brian Alexander of Whatever Filmworks.
