HOLLYWOOD — Internet solutions company IXL has announced the acquisition of Los Angeles interactive media com-panies Digital Planet and Spin Cycle Entertainment, and their consolidation into a single office to be renamed IXL Los Angeles.
The formation of IXL Los Angeles brings together three of L.A.’s most important interactive companies, according to Kevin Wall, vice chairman of IXL Holdings and the former CEO of the IXL Los Angeles.
The newly-formed organization, which combines with the previously acquired interactive firm Boxtop, will employ approximately 160 staffers, making it one of the area’s largest Internet content and solutions companies.
Trip Davis, co founder and former president of IXL San Francisco, will succeed Wall as IXL Los Angeles prexy. In addition, Davis will serve as president of IXL West.
“With the talent and resources now amassed in this office and our combined relationships and experience with Hollywood entities, IXL Los Angeles is the standard bearer for not only entertainment industry projects but the entire spectrum of Internet services,” said Davis in a statement.
IXL Inc. is headquartered in Atlanta.
