USA goes shopping for exec promotions

Company announces departmental restructuring

HOLLYWOOD — As part of the consolidation of the USA Networks empire under a single roof directed by chief Barry Diller, the company has announced a departmental restructuring of the affiliate relations staff, which will take on expanded responsibilities.

Executive VP Doug Holloway said Monday that the affiliate staff will now handle the Home Shopping Network as well as USA Network and Sci-Fi Channel, and announced a series of promotions.

Those include Karen Donahue’s appointment to the post of VP, strategic analysis and broadcast sales; Peter Ruben to VP, national accounts and western region; and Tom Smith to VP of the newly expanded Eastern Division (including both eastern and central regions).

Also upped were Dan Casciato (VP/central region), Cara Conte (director/special markets), Carla Lewis (director/eastern region), and Susan Lewis and Lynn Dee Johnson (both senior manager, western region).

“Everyone’s responsibilities have increased exponentially with the exciting merger of our distribution activities with those of Home Shopping Network’s,” Holloway said.
