The corporate migration from Universal TV to the newly minted USA Networks Studios continues with the appointment of U TV alums Vance Van Petten and Arthur Hasson to senior posts at USA.
Van Petten joined U as exec VP of legal and business affairs last October, just before Barry Diller’s HSN Inc. announced its $4.07 billion buyout of most of Universal’s TV assets.
At USA Networks Studios, Van Petten’s responsibilities will be expanded to include oversight of business and legal affairs for domestic syndication as well as network development and production. He reports to Greg Meidel, the former U TV Group chairman who’s now chairman and CEO of USA Networks Studios.
Van Petten came to Universal after six years with Fox’s Twentieth Television, where he advanced from senior VP to exec veepee of business and legal affairs. Prior to Twentieth, Van Petten spent eight years with Paramount Domestic TV.
Hasson, a seven-year U TV vet, has been upped to senior VP and national sales manager for USA’s domestic distribution arm, reporting to Steve Rosenberg, USA prexy of domestic distribution. Most recently, Hasson served as senior veep of Eastern sales for Universal. He joined the studio in 1991 as VP of Northeast region sales.
