Telefe taps Yankelevich

He's new general manager of Argentine b'caster

BUENOS AIRES — Gustavo Yankelevich has been named general manager of top Argentine broadcaster Telefe, following the departure of Pablo Galli to head up No.3 station Libertad last month.

Both broadcasters are part-owned by investor group CEI, which is believed to have mandated the changes.

Yankelevich served for most of the 1990s as programming manager of Telefe, and is widely considered Argentina’s savviest programmer, having kept Telefe in a leadership position despite various changes of GM.

Separately, Ralph Haiek has reportedly been named production manager of leading Argentine cable programmer Imagen Satelital, owned by Venezuela’s Cisneros Group.

Haiek was for five years prez of locally owned cabler MuchMusic.
