19-year company man fills exec veep slot

Greg Boone, a 19-year veteran of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) and its predecessor companies, has been upped to exec VP and associate general counsel for SPE’s television businesses.

Remaining at Sony’s Culver City headquarters, Boone will have expanded responsibilities include managing legal transactions, overseeing contractual matters and other legal issues related to SPE’s Columbia TriStar Television, Columbia TriStar Television Distribution, Game Show Network, Columbia TriStar Interactive and children’s programming divisions.

“We look to (Boone) to continue supporting our portfolio of television businesses in making innovative transactions and breaking new ground as we build upon our industry leadership in the future,” said Andy Kaplan, exec VP of the Columbia TriStar Television group, in a statement.

Boone joined then-Columbia Pictures Television as an attorney in 1979 and moved up to his most recent position as senior VP in charge of legal affairs for SPE’s television operations.

Prior to joining Sony, Boone worked for the Dino de Laurentiis Corp.
