TOKYO — Japanese satellite channel Wowow is planning to start broadcasting on the recently launched Sky PerfecTV platform later this year, a Wowow official said on Thursday.
Wowow offers movies, sports, foreign dramas and sitcoms and it now broadcasts two channels on rival DirecTV Japan. DirecTV Japan has used its Wowow card in campaigns because it was programming that Sky PerfecTV did not have.
The company is eyeing a launch in the fall at the earliest and said it should start broadcasting two channels on Sky PerfecTV some time this year.
Wowow is also available as a pay channel on the Japanese government’s broadcast satellite. It is Japan’s oldest and most widely known pay channel on satellite.
