The fifth annual Screen Actors Guild awards show will be held March 7 at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, the guild announced Monday.
It will be broadcast live over TNT for the second consecutive year.
As in years past, the event will honor outstanding performances in five film and eight TV categories, including the unique Ensemble Award. A statement released by the guild said the Ensemble Award, which lauds performances by a cast in a motion picture as well as by casts in both comedy and dramatic TV series, “recognizes what all actors know, that acting is collaborative art.”
Lifetime achievement award
SAG will also present a lifetime achievement award. This year it went to Elizabeth Taylor, although she was ill and could not attend the event to receive it.
Key dates for the 1999 SAG Awards are:
Oct. 5 — awards submissions begin;
Dec. 2 — end of submissions, at 5 p.m.;
Jan. 26 — nominations announced;
March 7 — awards presentations.
