NEW YORK — After rising in the management ranks of the Gold-Miller Co., Peter Safran has moved over to become a manager at Brillstein-Grey.

At Gold-Miler, he worked with such clients as “Selena” star Jennifer Lopez, “Frasier” star David Hyde Pierce and “Rocket Man” star Harland Williams. The move was said to be amicable, and as Safran begins his new job today, he and Gold-Miller will begin the process of figuring out which clients will move with Safran.

The 32-year-old Safran, a lawyer who began as an assistant at UTA before moving up to manager under the tutelage of Eric L. Gold and Jimmy Miller, was hired by Brillstein-Grey prexy Lloyd Braun and Marc Gurvitz and Cynthia Pett, co-prexys of B-G’s management company. He becomes the seventh manager over a stable of talent that includes Nicolas Cage and Brad Pitt.

In addition to Lopez, Williams and Hyde Pierce, Safran repped “Spin City” supervising producer Jeff Lowell, “Rocket Man” scribes Craig Mazin and Greg Erb, actress Elyse Neal (“Scream 2”), “Mad About You” writer Chris Case, and Damon Santostefano, just hired to direct TriStar’s “Idle Hands.” Gold-Miller is producing a Kevin Abbott-scripted sitcom for CBS at Brillstein-Grey, on which Safran was executive producer with Gold and Jamie Masada.
