James Hurlock has been tapped VP Asia/Pacific for the international division of the Paramount Television Group.
Hurlock will have primary responsibility for the sale of the studio’s product to free TV, basic cable and satellite distribution in the Asia/Pacific region including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, China and the rest of the Far East. He will oversee the operations of the Sydney office, which includes sales director Sean Cleary. Hurlock will report to Joe Lucas, exec VP sales and marketing, for the division.
Hurlock joins Paramount from MGM/UA where he served as VP, sales planning and business development for the Asia/Pacific region and managing director of that company’s Sydney office beginning in 1996. Previously, Hurlock was based in the Czech Republic for HBO.
“Having worked closely with Jim at MGM, I am very pleased he is joining the team at Paramount. In a short time Jim has become an expert in the region and will be a valuable resource across all Viacom divisions,” said Gary Marenzi, president of Paramount International TV.
