OFG jumps back into black 1st qtr.

Revs grew 14% to $7 mil spurred by sales of pix rights

NEW YORK — Robbie and Ellen Little’s Overseas Filmgroup Inc. moved back into the black in the first quarter, it said Friday, reporting a profit of $208,000 — down on the profit earned in the first quarter of last year, but an improvement from the losses suffered by OFG for most of last year.

The film distrib and foreign sales agent said revenue grew 14% in the quarter to $7 million, mainly “as a result of increased sales of motion picture rights,” as well as U.S. theatrical revenues from the release of “Mrs. Dalloway” during the quarter.

OFG’s film costs rose to $5.6 million, but the increase was partly offset by a 12% reduction in overhead to $795,000.
