McFarlane gets ‘Crow’ line

Pact outlines plans for characters based on upcoming TV series

McFarlane Toys will produce a line of action figures and accessories inspired by characters from “The Crow,” a franchise that has produced two movies, a third in development and an upcoming live-action TV series from Polygram.

The deal with “Crow” owner Edward R. Pressman Film Corp. says also that McFarlane will create a separate line of toys specifically based on the TV series.

“Although we had significant proposals from several major companies, we believe that McFarlane Toys will give us the best opportunity to provide quality toys to our existing loyal ‘Crow’ fans while also expanding the base of ‘Crow’ fans with toys based on the television series,” Pressman said.

Pressman’s company produced the current James Toback film “Two Girls and a Guy” and has three movies in post-production — “Endurance,” “Legionnaire” and “New Rose Hotel.” It’s in pre-production on “American Psycho.”

McFarlane Toys, owned by Todd McFarlane — creator of the “Spawn” comic book and an exec producer of the eponymous movie — produces action figures based on characters from “Spawn” and “The X-Files” and well as non-licensed characters.

Deal for “The Crow” was put together by Daniel Kletzky, president of Entertainment Licensing Associates.
