Mangel new prexy of IFG

Ex-Artisan exec also COO in charge of all co. operations

Former Artisan Entertainment executive VP Steven Mangel has joined Intl. Film Guarantors as president and chief operating officer.

Mangel will be responsible for all company operations. He will communicate with both producers and banks on prospective projects, and oversee completion of existing projects.

Michael Segal, IFG chairman and CEO, said that Mangel would oversee IFG’s forthcoming expansion into the U.K. market, where the company plans to open its first European office. “We believe that Steven is the ideal executive to blend IFG’s big-budget practice with small- and mid-sized-budget films,” he said.

IFG has bonded pics such as “Braveheart,” “Fargo,” “Dead Man Walking,” “G.I. Jane,” “Air Force One,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Sliding Doors.”

Mangel worked at Artisan (formerly known as Live Entertainment) for 12 years, ending up as exec VP in charge of business affairs, legal, contracts administration and music departments.

During his tenure there he was involved in the financing and production of pics such as “Reservoir Dogs,” “Bob Roberts,” “Bad Lieutenant” and “Drugstore Cowboy.”
