Frons joins SBS as programming head

London-based exec is senior VP of programming

Brian Frons has joined Scandinavian Broadcasting System (SBS), a Euro-based broadcaster with a string of stations, as senior VP of programming.

In the newly created position, Frons will oversee programming, acquisitions, and scheduling as well as supervising the research and marketing for the SBS group of stations. These include SBS6 (Holland), TVNorge (Norway), Kanal 5 (Sweden), TvDanmark (Denmark), VT4 (Belgium), TV2 (Hungary) and Kanal A (Slovenia).

Frons will be based in London and will report to Harry Sloan, chairman and chief executive officer of the publicly quoted company.

Prior to joining SBS, Frons was a partner in Stewart & Frons TV, a global production company based in L.A. He started the consulting business after five years with New World Entertainment, where he served as president of creative affairs. Before that, he developed shows for NBC, including the daytime soap “Santa Barbara.”

“As we continually look to strengthen our management team, Frons brings with him a wealth of experience in the development, production and scheduling of network as well as syndicated programming. He will also be instrumental in our plans to expand our station group holdings throughout Western and Eastern Europe,” Sloan said in a statement.
