Film Roman, which produces the animated hits “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill,” has announced a new development team. The animation studio has hired Andi Copley and Danica Katz as development VPs to pursue its core animation business as well as an expansion into live action television, feature films, multimedia and direct-to-video businesses.
Copley and Katz join David Niles White, Film Roman’s executive producer of digital animation, who joined the company late last year. They report to prexy and CEO David Pritchard.
Copley will oversee primetime animation as well as live action television. She joins Film Roman from the Disney Channel, where she exec produced 100 half-hour episodes of “Adventures in Wonderland.” Prior to that she had been the co-producer of “Pee Wee’s Playhouse.”
Katz will pursue animation projects for Saturday morning, cable, latenight and direct-to-video. Most recently, she was director of programming at Fox Children’s Network, where she was responsible for overseeing production of “The Tick,” “Bobby’s World,” “Casper” and “Big Bad Beetleborgs.” Prior to Fox she was a production exec at Longview Entertainment, involved in feature development.
