The American Film Marketing Assn. (AFMA) has promoted Melanie Moen to the position of vice president of government relations and legal affairs.
Mike Frischkorn, AFMA president, made the announcement.
Based in Los Angeles, Moen will coordinate all of AFMA’s government relations activities in California, Washington and overseas.
“As AFMA broadens its agenda in this country and internationally, there are more issues that must be addressed on a worldwide basis in an increasingly complex film and television environment,” says Frischkorn, who himself comes from a Washington lobbying background. “Those issues range from copyright protection, satellite conventions and piracy to market access.”
Moen joined AFMA in 1991 and was responsible for establishing its legal department. On behalf of the organization, she liaised with the MPAA, the government and FBI in matters relating to piracy, copyright and market access.
