Twenty candidates are eligible to run for the eight open seats on the board of directors of the Writers Guild of America West, the union announced Tuesday.

They include former WGAW presidents David W. Rintels, Brad Radnitz and John Furia Jr., as well as fellow non-incumbents Craig Miller, Pam Veasey, Charles Holland, Connie Zimmerman, David Seidler, Tim O’Donnell, Dyanne Asimow, John Eisendrath, Dennis Feldman and former board members Lynn Roth and Michael Halperin.

Incumbents in the running are Josh Friedman, Amy Holden Jones, Jim Staahl, David H. Balkan, Brenda Lilly and Carl Gottlieb.

WGAW members also have the option of running for the eight board seats by petition. Signed petitions must be submitted to the guild by 5:30 p.m. July 23.

The board is composed of 16 members and three officers — WGAW president Daniel Petrie Jr., VP John Wells and secretary-treasurer Michael Mahern.

Members will receive candidates’ statements and rebuttals with their ballots prior to the election. The guild will host an evening for members to meet candidates Sept. 2.

Votes may be mailed to the guild or cast in person at the annual membership meeting Sept. 17.
