SORVINO INKS SITCOM DEAL

Paul Sorvino has agreed to return to series duty for the first time since he exited “Law and Order.” Sorvino has signed with Disney to star in an untitled ABC sitcom being developed by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline (“Murphy Brown,” “Ellen”).

Sorvino will play a highly pressured ad exec who gets little relief at home, where he has three teen daughters. Sorvino’s Disney deal also has him developing a telepic for “The Wonderful World of Disney” on which he’ll make his directing debut. It’s based on Rich Ruffalo, a National Teacher of the Year award-winner who will be played by Sorvino.

The thesp also will be seen this year in “Money Talks” and “Most Wanted” from New Line, and co-stars with Warren Beatty in the secret “Bulworth Project.” The series will be co-produced by Sorvino’s manager, Steven Greener of SteelTown Entertainment. Sorvino, who’s getting offices on the Disney lot, was repped by Gersh’s Larry Taube and Bob Gersh.
