Making its first foray into the telefilm arena, Trimark Pictures is near completion on two telefilms for the USA Networks.
Principal photography wraps in Winnipeg, Manitoba, today on “Trucks,” which gets its premiere on USA in October. Earlier this month Trimark completed shooting on “The Advanced Guard,” which airs on USA’s Sci-Fi Channel later this year.
Trimark will handle video, foreign and free TV distribution.
“This is an area we’re going to be moving aggressively into,” said Trimark VP of production Bruce David Eisen, who co-produced “Trucks.” “We see it as a growth area. There are a lot more TV channels coming. It’s also a way for us to distinguish ourselves.”
Based on a short story by Stephen King, “Trucks” focuses on a small rural town terrorized by a convoy of evil vehicles.
The made-for stars Timothy Busfield (“thirtysomething,” “Quiz Show”), Brenda Bakke (“American Gothic”), Brendan Fletcher (“Little Criminals”) and Aidan Devine.
Chris Thomson directs; Michael Scott produces. Exec producers are Jerry Leider, Richard Reisberg and Derek Mazu.
“The Advanced Guard” stars Isabella Hoffman (“Homicide: Life on the Street”) as part of an alien space crew that plans to enslave humans and strip the Earth of its resources. Michael Weatherly (“Loving”) and James Avery (“Sparks”) are among those who use their ingenuity and determination to defend the planet.
Written and directed by Peter Geiger, the picture is a Cold as Hell production. Jana Sue Memel exec produced.
