Three advance Emmys awarded for animation

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has awarded Emmys to three recipients for outstanding individual achievement in animation in advance of next month’s 49th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards competition.

The winners are:

Gary Hurst, production designer for HBO’s “Testament: The Bible in Animation — Moses”;

Loraine Marshall, color director for the Family Channel’s “Willows in Winter”; and

Phil Weinstein, storyboard artist for CBS’ “Boo to You Too! Winnie the Pooh.”

Jeremy Irons and Rik Mayall were also honored with Primetime Emmys in the outstanding voiceover performance category. Irons won for his portrayal of Siegfried Sassoon in PBS’ “The Great War and the Shaping of the 20th Century — War Without End,” and Mayall for portraying Toad in “Willows in Winter.”

Both Irons and Mayall will receive their Emmys Sept. 7 in Pasadena.
