These shows sounded so promising, but they just didn’t make the cut for the upcoming season. A chance exists that they might be picked up for mid-season replacements. But this Fall, don’t look for:
“The Player” — based on the Michael Tolkin novel which was made into the popular Robert Altman movie in 1992. (ABC).
“The Doyles” — a down-to-earth drama written by fresh voice and Hollywood newcomer Joanne Waters about an Irish Catholic, working class family in Boston. (ABC)
“Fargo” — based on the Coen-brothers film which cleaned up at the Oscars. (CBS)
“Automatic Avenue” — A struggling (is there any other kind?) actor suddenly finds his career on a fast track to stardom as a result of a new TV actioner. For Bill Campbell, the lead in “Automatic,” his life certainly won’t imitate art if the show doesn’t get picked up mid-season. (Fox)
“The Notorious 7” — Avengers, not the kind like “The Avengers,” more like “Mission Impossible, and starring Justin Louis. ”
