In an example of the kind of synergy likely to become commonplace between CBS News and the new CBS nonfiction cable net Eye on People, Paula Zahn has been tapped to host the weekly blast-from-the-past series “Fast Forward” for the cable web, which is prepping for a March 31 launch.
Zahn, who anchors the Saturday edition of “The CBS Evening News,” is expected to come back from maternity leave on Jan. 25 after giving birth to her third child on New Year’s Day. She also contributes to “48 Hours,” “CBS Evening News” and various CBS News specials and documentaries.
“Fast Forward” promises to “revisit famous, not-so-famous, even fictional people who once held the public’s atten-tion” before updating their lives today.
Meanwhile, executives for Group W Satellite Communications and CBS continued to have no comment on specu-lation that veteran Viacom executive Geoffrey Darby is the leading candidate to take the president’s post for Eye on People. A spokeswoman would say only that a decision would be made within a week.
