NEW YORK — Producer Peter Engel has extended his pact with NBC Enterprises, agreeing to a new five-year deal that potentially will add primetime series to his current teen-oriented Saturday morning slate.
Engel exec produces “Saved By the Bell,” “Hang Time” and the new “City Guys” for TNBC, the Peacock web’s self-titled block of Saturday teen-oriented programming. He signed the new deal with NBC Enterprises senior VP Jerry Petry. Engel now hopes to broaden his slate beyond teen programming and will add execs to his roster.
The network owns a stake in Peter Engel Prods. and is involved in producing and distribbing his series for overseas and domestic syndication. The arrangement, nonexclusive to NBC, also includes Engel’s “USA High” airing on the USA Network.
NBC began its TNBC block with “Bell” in 1989, when it started dropping traditional cartoons from the daypart.
