TriStar Pictures has made a deal with the devil in Terri Hughes and Ron Milbauer’s spec script “Idle Hands,” which the studio picked up Wednesday for a mid-six-figure fee, sources said.
Pic is a comedic horror movie in the vein of “Scream,” derived from the aphorism “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” Plot concerns a 17-year-old slothful kid who becomes possessed by the devil.
Pic is one of the first specs bought for new TriStar exec VP of production Lauren Lloyd to handle.
Andy Licht and Jeff Mueller, who produced “The Cable Guy,” are producers on the project, which was developed inhouse at their production company. Licht/Mueller director of development Hilary Galanoy developed the comedy.
David Lubliner of the William Morris Agency brokered the deal for Hughes and Milbauer.
