Randy Smith, the former promotional exec at Columbia TriStar Pictures, has left the advertising world to return to entertainment. Smith has joined MGM as VP of national promotions and corporate sponsorships from MGM’s agency Saatchi & Saatchi. He previously worked at DDB Needham, an agency he joined after he left Columbia TriStar in 1995.
Smith replaces Lori Cloud, who relocated to Chicago in February. He will report to Karen Sortito, executive VP, worldwide promotions and corporate sponsorships.
He will immediately start work on a number of projects including “Warriors of Virtue” and the next film in the James Bond franchise, “Tomorrow Never Dies.” He will also work on television properties such as “FAME L.A.” and “Stargate SG-I” as well as the video launches of the “Elvis Commemorative Collection” and the “Pink Panther” collection.
