Steve Hawk been named president of the Cinema Audio Society, which reps more than 300 film and TV sound mixers. Hawk and the group’s new board members will be installed at the CAS awards banquet Saturday at the Beverly Hilton.
James B. Freydberg, Cara Silverman and Christopher Ashley, in association with Pachyderm Entertainment, have optioned Brett Spencer’s short story “Babyman.” Project is to be developed as a feature, with Ashley directing.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has set an April 15 entry deadline for the 18th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards. This year’s kudos will be presented at a black-tie dinner Sept. 10 at Gotham’s Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Cinar Films has inked a deal with Reader’s Digest Assn. to produce and distribute “The Country Mouse and the City Mouse Adventures,” an animated series aimed at the preschool market. Cinar will co-produce 26 episodes of the half-hour series with France Animation in association with Ravensburger and Reader’s Digest, and handle broadcast distribution worldwide.
