‘Prince’ rates for Peacock

NBC’s midseason police drama “Prince Street” posted an 11.6 rating and 21 share in the Thursday 10-11 p.m. slot usually occupied by “ER.”

Of course, considering that it aired on the web’s strongest night, such a performance was expected — “ER” has averaged a 21/35. However, the ratings were the lowest NBC has experienced in that time period since 1994, when an episode of “Dateline” averaged an 11.0 rating.

“Prince Street” did lose some viewers in the second half-hour, as the show went from a 12.6/22 in the first half to a 10.7/20. Next week, “Prince Street” moves to the Wednesday 10-11 p.m. slot, with “Law & Order” going to the “ER” slot.

For the night, NBC averaged a 15.6/26, followed by CBS’ 7.7/13, ABC’s 6.7/11 and Fox’s 5.9/9.

NBC got some encouragement from the performance of “Suddenly Susan” in the 8:30-9 p.m. slot. It averaged a 16.4 rating and 26 share, up from the 14.9/24 the show posted last week. Of course, a new episode of “Friends” (17.5/29) as a lead-in didn’t hurt.

“Suddenly Susan” also retained 94% of the “Friends” audience, the highest retention for NBC since an episode of “Boston Common” retained 96% last April.

Pinch hitting for “The Naked Truth” was a repeat of “3rd Rock From the Sun” which averaged a 15.9/26, off from “The Naked Truth’s” average of 17.8/28 but a high for the show.

CBS’ “Moloney” was preempted by 19% (70 stations) of the country for a Billy Graham special. The show’s 5.7/9 average will not be included in the season-to-date averages.

ABC’s midseason reality medical show “Vital Signs” posted a 6.1 rating and 10 share, off slightly from its debut numbers two weeks ago of 6.9/11. However, it improved on its “High Incident” (5.0/8) lead-in.
