“Forrest Gump” filmmaker Robert Zemeckis and former CAA co-chairman Jack Rapke are close to setting up their joint production deal, but won’t divulge where. Although industry insiders are pointing to DreamWorks SKG, apparently no decision has been made. The team also is in talks to bring in a senior exec, with former Warner Bros. VP of production Jennifer Perini the leading candidate. A deal with Zemeckis and Rapke at DreamWorks would be a major coup for the startup studio, which has first feature “The Peacemaker” due out Sept. 26. A DreamWorks rep, meanwhile, said she had no knowledge of any discussions about the duo setting up a deal at the company, and calls to DreamWorks principal Jeffrey Katzenberg seeking comment went unreturned.
