In another sign of expansion, Peter Engel Prods. has named former Warner Bros. executive Andrew Barrett-Weiss to the newly created position of vice president of creative affairs. Kerry Holmwood is also joining the company in the new manager of creative affairs spot.
Both Barrett-Weiss and Holmwood will report to Linda Mancuso, president of Peter Engel Prods., which recently signed a new five-year partnership with NBC Enterprises. The company is branching out beyond its stable of teen shows, such as NBC’s “Saved by the Bell” and “Hang Time,” and into primetime series production for the first time.
Barrett-Weiss is joining the company after two years at Warner Bros. TV, where as a director of current programming he oversaw creative aspects of “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” “Step by Step,” “The Wayans Bros.” and “Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher.” Prior to Warner Bros., he worked at Fox Broadcasting Co. as a manager of program planning and scheduling.
In his new position, Barrett-Weiss will focus primarily on developing new comedies, dramas and telefilms for primetime. Holmwood, who has worked for three years as an inhouse coordinator at NBC Studios, will oversee production of current programs and will help develop new projects.
