NEW YORK — Robert DeBitetto, senior VP of the Turner Pictures Group, has shifted over to TNT as executive VP in charge of original cable movies.
In the new job, DeBitetto will supervise the business operations of the dozen or so original movies TNT commissions every year. He’ll work with Julie Weitz, TNT’s executive VP of original programming, who’ll focus on the creative side. Both executives will operate out of Los Angeles and report to the Atlanta-based president of TNT, Brad Siegel.
Siegel says TNT plans to expand the slate of made-fors, which include the forthcoming Biblical drama “David” in April; “Rough Riders,” starring Tom Berenger and directed by John Milius, in July; and “Wallace,” directed by John Frankenheimer, with Gary Sinise as the controversial Alabama governor, in August.
Before joining Turner Pictures in October 1995, DeBitetto was senior VP of business affairs for Walt Disney’s motion picture group. Before his eight-year stint at Disney, he was an attorney in the Beverly Hills office of Finely, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, Myerson and Casey.
