Bart, Weinstein toast new tome

Variety VP and editor-in-chief Peter Bart and Miramax Films co-chairman Harvey Weinstein hosted a cocktail party Saturday evening at Cannes’ newly opened Planet Hollywood restaurant to celebrate the publication of Miramax Books’ “Fifty Years of Sun, Sex & Celluloid,” a history of the Cannes Film Festival by the editors of Variety.

“The book was going to be called ‘Fifty Years of Sun & Celluloid,’ but I decided to insert the word sex into the title,” Weinstein said.

Among those attending were Jack Palance, “Copland” co-star Annabella Sciorra, “The English Patient” producer Saul Zaentz, Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler of Motion Picture Corp. of America, film critic Roger Ebert and the New York Film Festival’s Robert Sklar.
