Marie Dear

Marie Dear, who worked at MGM Studios for 40 years, died May 10 of lung cancer at UCLA Medical Center. She was 84.

Beginning in the 1940s, she held numerous positions at MGM, including assistant to drapery department head Ervin Dear, whom she later married.

A native of Texarkana, Texas, Dear also worked for choreographer Hermes Pan and producer-director George Pal.

She most recently worked in the publicity department for Ted Hatfield, where she helped handle numerous screenings and parties.

She is survived by a son, daughter, granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.
