Frederick J. (Erik) Magrath III

Frederick J. (Erik) Magrath III, a personal manager, died April 17 of a heart attack at his home in Reseda. He was 45.

A Boston native, Magrath graduated from St. John’s Prep in Massachusetts and Fairleigh Dickinson U. in New Jersey before moving to Paris and attending the Sorbonne.

While in Paris, Magrath, who spoke five languages, served as a translator for the Intl. Olympic Committee.

He then relocated to Los Angeles, where he worked as the executive administrator of the Municipal Elections Committee of Los Angeles, a political action committee promoting gay, lesbian and women’s rights.

In 1986 Magrath joined Carlyle Management and five years later formed his own personal management company, Erik Magrath Co., which eventually became Magrath & Sargent Management.

A member of the Conference of Personal Managers Inc., Magrath was currently serving on its board of directors as second vice president.

Magrath is survived by his mother, Marjorie D. (DiMento) Magrath, two brothers, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
